French toast

4 eggs
1 teaspoon sugar, optional
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
bread
butter
maple syrup

  • Break eggs into a wide, shallow bowl. Beat lightly.
  • Stir in sugar, salt, and milk.
  • Soak the bread in the mixture. Turn to soak all sides.
  • Over medium-low heat, heat the pan coated with a thin layer of butter.
  • Transfer the soaked bread to the pan, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown.
  • Turn and brown the other side.

Serve hot with butter and syrup.
